As I mentioned earlier this week, Carl spent Mother’s Day weekend in Minneapolis for the first group of dance recitals of the season. He actually went a day early so that he could stain the deck at our rental property*. It turns out that our former BFF, Ron, threw a surprise 50th birthday party for his wife, Deb, that weekend so Carl was able to stop by.
Welcome to the Club, Deb! Wish I could have been there to celebrate too.
*Side story: Before I left MN and after Carl had already moved to JAX to start his new job, I had the honor of painting the back deck at the rental property. We used a new Behr product, called “Deckover,” which was a thick coating that promised “to conceal cracks and splinters up to 1/4″, and create a smooth, slip-resistant finish that also resists cracking and peeling.” The following spring, just 6 months later, the renters sent me photos of the cracking and peeling back deck. After contacting Behr products, they apologized and ended up sending us deck conditioner (which they said was the key to not having peeling issues) and 3 gallons of paint/stain of our choice. Plus, they reimbursed us for the cost of a sander rental to remove the faulty product as well as additional supplies needed. Now that’s great customer service!
Sorry, this wasn’t exactly a wordless post :).
