Home Away from Home

Carl and I are so blessed to have the use of a beautiful and relaxing vacation getaway in one of our favorite destinations of Tucson, AZ.

And best of all, we don’t have to pay the bills, thanks to the generosity is my Aunt Sandra. We arrived on Thursday and enjoyed a dinner out with Aunt Sandra, sunset on the back patio and an early bedtime.

The next morning, after awaking at the crack of dawn thanks to the 3-hour time difference, we got an early start on a morning hike at Sabino Canyon.

We hiked the 4.25 miles to the Seven Falls, where water was still flowing thanks to the wet spring.

It was strange to see one lone duck floating at the base of the falls in the middle of the desert valley.

When all was said and done, we had nearly 8.5 miles under our belts. Yay for us!

After running a few errands, we returned to Aunt Sandra’s to await the arrival of the kids, who drove together from Phoenix. Anthony, who just completed his first year of college, with all As and Bs, arrived with his lovely girlfriend, Gab.

Kelly and her sweet boyfriend, Avram, flew in to Phoenix and spent the night with Uncle Brad and Gwen before making their way to Tucson.

This was our first time to meet the significant others of both Kelly and Anthony and we couldn’t be happier for them both. They both have chosen such kind, personable and lovely companions. We look forward to spending the rest of the week together getting to know them.

We are grateful to Aunt Sandy for her generous hospitality in allowing all 6 of us to crash at her place for the weekend for the start of our family vacation. Thank you so much Auntie!!
