On Wednesday afternoon, Kelly arrived for a week’s Christmas visit. My in-laws arrived later that day and our family Christmas was officially kicked off! We began with a Taco Bar for dinner and then our annual viewing of Chevy Chase’s Christmas Vacation.
After a leisure Christmas Eve morning/early afternoon, my in-laws headed off to the Catholic Church for mass.
The rest of our family went down the road to the non-denominational mega-church for service.
It was beautifully decorated and included festive music and a lovely candle-lit singing of Silent Night, which always manages to choke me up.
After our respective church attendance, we all went next-door to our neighbor’s house for a fun evening with the Magnolia Mob and other relatives and friends of the neighbors.
There was an open bar, plenty of food (including plenty of non-carb options), a card game and laughter. We also enjoyed playing with the cool laser lights in the backyard.
It was a fun evening with so many of our favorite people. We are so grateful for the hospitality of our neighbors. After bidding them goodnight, the rest of us wound down the evening watching Elf. It was a very Merry Christmas Eve.
