Florida Life, The Friends, Traveling

Weekend in Naples

Our good friends from Minnesota, Kent and Julie, have a vacation condo right on the beach in Naples, Florida. When we found out a few weeks ago that they would be there without children over the weekend before Thanksgiving and our schedule was free, we decided to take a road trip down to visit them.

The highlight of the weekend was taking a scenic boat tour around the ritzy channels of Port Royal.

We saw some beautiful estates, like this home owned by the heir to Hershey chocolate.

We saw dolphins riding the wake of our boat…lots of dolphins this weekend!

Our boat tour included the viewing of the sun setting over the Gulf of Mexico, which I happened to catch right as this sailboat passed by…so pretty!

It was a lovely experience shared with good friends.

In addition to the boat tour, we walked 6 miles down the beach and back by their condo (seeing our first dolphin of the weekend), walked around the area near their condo, walked the Naples Pier (and saw more dolphins), went to church together, ate a great meal at Outback Steakhouse, played several rounds of Rummikub, watched a movie together and spent lots of time talking and catching up.

We really enjoyed our time in Naples and can see why Kent and Julie and Carl’s aunt, mom and dad like it so much down there. Our time was very short but filled with great memories. Thanks to Kent and Julie for our weekend getaway!
